Friedman calls periods in history that supposedly paved the way for Globalization and Free Trade - "flatteners". However he leaves out many and ignores others.
It was a Democrat President - Clinton and a Democrat Congress the passed the unfair NAFTA and GATT trade agreements. Even before that the year 1956 should be the top "flattener" when the U.S. Government start sponsoring the moving of U.S. factories outside the USA.
