The most hyped iPhone of Apple Inc., still outshines among its contemporaries and in terms of its functionalities. But there are much more news for the phone aficionados than this Apple iPhone. Especially, the users outside Japan are deprived from some of the most attractive and sophisticated gadgets, ever imaginable in the mobiledom.
A veritable evidence of this deprivation was sensed in the Ceatec exhibition held in Chiba, Japan, where renowned Japanese operator KDDI Corp has unveiled the best of cell phones with a funky look—Infobar 2. This is a KDDI handset with superlative features and cutting-edge design is expected in the market by November for around ¥20,000 (US$172), excluding service charges.
This revolutionary gadget has a 2.6-inch LCD screen of 240 pixels by 400 pixels resolution and a high-performance 2-megapixel camera. Further, it is gifted with 100M bytes of internal storage and a microSD slot for storing music files. So users are at the liberty too choose microSD cards with maximum storage and since using a memory card is cost-effective, sometimes they can even select a more capacity one than the 8G-byte hard disk inside iPhone. Apart from this Infobar 2 comes in four color schemes and is enhanced with a Felica smart chip for electronic payments.
Though there are significant similarities between the Infobar 2 and iPhone, the technology used in Infobar 2 is one or more generations ahead of the iPhone. However the Infobar 2 doesn't have support for Wi-Fi, but the with KDDI's CDMA2000-1X EV-DO network it itself is self sufficient.
Users can recieve and send e-mails anywhere in Japan at about 2.4M bps. But as per the information available through AT&T Wireless Inc., the EDGE networking the iPhone enables only an average download speed of 70K bits per second. Apart from this Infobar 2 enables digital-television broadcasts for free throughout the country and that too in different channels as per the availability at that region.
Anyway Apple's iPhone is also not far behind. Its exceptional music capability is second to none. But the Japanese operators also have come up with more advanced music-download services that outshine the iTunes Store and the users are offered remarkable options of downloading music directly to their handsets. They can access KDDI's Lismo music store from their handsets and PCs, and thereby they can synchronize the stored files. Infact, the users can copy songs in the Lismo, and when the phones are changed, Lismo allows the users to copy all his songs to the new handset.
The phone additionally offers search function where users can search by artist or song title and also by the artist’s name. The exceptionalness of the phone is that even if you hum a part of the song into the handset, Lismo will trace it out. Also unlike iTunes the song prices on Lismo are cheaper. One can use this as ringtones also which is not possible in iTunes.
However, though Japanese people prefer clamshell phones the exceptional features of Infobar 2 cannot be ignored. Since its musical capabilities are more advantageous, it even surpasses the iTunes of which Apple iPhone is widely acclaimed.
But the fact remains that Apple iPhone is more than just a phone. The device bears the brand name of Apple with all the enhanced music options and is surely going to win the hearts of all music lovers.
