Pileated Woodpecker

This Pileated Woodpecker sees something interesting up in the cedar tree. Nearly as large as a crow, it is the largest woodpecker in North America.

These Sandhill Cranes were using the shade from a small maple tree to keep cool on a 95 degree afternoon.

The Eagle Lady

Every winter, for the last thirty years, Jean Keene, 82, has been feeding up to 300 bald eagles in the backyard of her house. The intrepid Keene, who lives in Alaska's Kenai Peninsula, emerges every morning from her mobile home and tosses out several hundred pounds of fish.
Jeane Keen - known as the "Eagle Lady" - maintains one of the most unique bird feeding stations in the world. Sometimes, the crowd of eagles is so huge that it brings us to memory Alfred Hitchcocks film, 'The Birds'.
According to Reader’s Digest, Keene began feeding a pair of eagles who showed up in her yard in the '70s. They chowed down on the fish she doled out and the flock grew rapidly. Now, each December, the raptors return and Keene gives out 500 pounds of fish daily thanks to local fishermen and suppliers.

What Is It?

My game camera was setup on my dock in order to get a picture or two of a couple playful otters that I'd seen nearby. Instead this "Towering Dinosaur" showed up! I think it's a Sandhill Crane. It's difficult to tell with the head cut off in this picture.

Hen Turkey

Birds can do the craziest things sometimes, and with today explosion of digital cameras, many times their acts are caught on camera.

Wild Turkey Sitting On The Bird Feeder. I just put fresh seed in the feeder 1/2 hour earlier. This hen turkey finally gave up trying to fiqure out how to get to the seed and wandered back into the woods.
