How I Added Blogger Sitemap To Google

Labels: ,

Bloggers that use Blogger.com surely have one disadvantage as against Wordpress users. It is that Google indexes and crawls only the last 25 posts from your blog. So clearly if you have 30 blog posts on your blog then all your articles will not be read by Google. And most importantly if you have redirected feeds on your blog then you are playing with site's ranking and its life. So what's the best way to overcome this problem. Just provide a sitemap to Google from your Google-Webmasters account. But here arises one more problem; how to create sitemap? That's very easy, you don't have to create one, just provide a correct link.[...]

I did not want to create a sitemap so I searched the net and found out some possible ways. Amit Aggarwal from Lanol.org says:
  • First login to your Google Webmaster account and then go to Sitemaps.
  • Here select any previous sitemap that you submitted( that is not working properly) and delete it.
  • Then click on "Add Sitemap". Then from the scroll down menu that appears select "Add General Sitemap".
  • Now you will be asked to enter the sitemap URL. So there you enter: http://xxx.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false Note: Don't forget to enter your blog's name instead of 'xxx'
  • Then press "Add Sitemap" and you are done.

But still there will be some problems and then I found another solution. This time I tried this:
.../atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=100
And it worked. Just click the link and you will believe me. All my posts are listed there. And it also worked as my sitemap.
So what you have to do now is:
  • Remove all the non-working sitemaps from your webmaster account.
  • Then add a general sitemap. The URL should be: http://xxx.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=100 Note: Replace xxx with your blog's name.
  • Now you are done. Your 100 posts will be listed in google. But what about more posts? Good Question.
  • When you have posts more than 100 say 110 then enter another sitemap URL. This time it should be: http://xxx.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=201&max-results=100
  • And when you have more than 200 posts add another sitemap to previous ones. The URL being: http://xxx.blogspot.com/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=301&max-results=100
  • And so on...(See the start-index value is changing everytime).

Improved Blog List layout in Blogger

Labels:

Blogger has recently released a new page element for Layout Blogs. Now the bloggers will be able to show their favourite blogs in a new Blog List widget. The widget uses RSS feeds to show the update times, post titles and snippets for the blogs in the link list. You can also add favicon to every link. The best part is that you can link to podcasts, twitter streams, search results or anything that has feeds. Here is what Buzz.Blogger.com says it has for its bloggers:[...]

Here’s a quick summary of the features that a Blog List gives you:

* Link to blogs, web pages, and feeds from your blog’s sidebar, with an optional favicon
* For pages with RSS and Atom feeds, Blog List can show last updated time, post title, and a snippet of the latest post
* Sort links alphabetically or by last update time
* Show all links, or hide some behind a “show all” link
* Import subscriptions from Google Reader
* Blog List links are visible to search engine crawlers, so your blog’s PageRank and reputation flow to those you link to

How I Removed nofollow Attribute

Labels: ,

Nofollow attribute are some sort of code in our template that prevents the backlinks of posts and links in comments on our blogs to be indexed by search engine. It was created to stop comment spam, but still many bloggers prefer to remove this attribute. There are reasons for that, firstly, this discourages commentators as they know that there comments will not be considered by search engines so they don't comment at all. The second reason is that it also prevents backlinks on your posts. So I decided to remove nofollow from my blog.[...]

One more reason that we should remove nofollow is that there is no need to put it on your blog if you have comment moderation enabled. That is if you want to stop comment spamming you can do this manually and easily.

I will tell you how to remove nofollow component. First download your template to your computer in case any error occurs.
Now, how can you remove nofollow from comments:
  1. Find a line similar to this one in your blog template(Don't forget to Expand Widget Template) :
    <a expr:href='data:backlink.url' rel='nofollow'><data:backlink.title/></a>
  2. In this line remove the rel='nofollow' section.
To remove nofollow from backlinks do this:
  • Find a line similar to this line in your template:
    <a href='data:comment.authorUrl' rel='nofollow'><data:comment.author/></a>
  • In this line also just remove rel='nofollow' section.

How I Earn Entrecard Credits and Traffic Fast

Labels: ,

Want to earn 350 ECs everyday!!! So now every blogger understands what's the importance of Entrecard. Entercard is a tool that can be used not just to publicize your blog but as the policies of Entrecard are updating it can also be used to earn money, real money. All of us bloggers want to earn ECs very fast. Though there are some rules that should not be broken. So what are the ways in which we can earn hundreds of ECs in a matter of minutes a day? I searched the net and found out some great(and of course legal) ways to earn credits fast.[...]

There are three ways to earn credits. First: dropping cards on other blogs, second: inviting other Entrecard users to drop cards on your blog and third: by letting ads run on your Entrecard widget. We will discuss them one by one.

Dropping Cards:
  • Tysblog's Bookmark List: This is great thinking. You have to install Firefox then add the bookmark list downloaded from Tysblog and just start enjoying fast "Tabbed Entrecard Dropping". Its fast and its safe. I also use this technique and recommend this to every Entrecardian. There are almost 300 blogs in the bookmark list so you can earn 250 ECs easily within 20 to 30 minutes.
  • PowerDropping: This site includes 300 fast loading blogs. However some sites are slow but I think you should give it a try. The list is revised daily. So new and blogs can be seen frequently.
Inviting Other Bloggers To Drop
  • U Drop I Follow: This is growing like a revolution. There are currently around 200 blogs listed on Leedoyle.com. All you have to do is to put a badge around your Entrecard widget(EW). So whenever you drop a card on other "U Drop I Follow" blog the blogger tries the best to come to your site and drop his card. So the more cards you drop there the more drops you will recieve on your blog. Smart Thinking.
  • One more thing you should preferably place the Entrecard Widget above the fold on your blog. This will certainly increase the Dropping Ratio.
Other EC Techniques
  • The very easy and no effort way of getting ECs is to let other Entrecardians to advertise on your widget.
  • If you want you can also take part in contests being held on other blogs. Nowadays many bloggers are holding contests on their blogs giving away thousands of ECs. One of the most recent contests related to Entrecardians is that on Problogger.
O.K these are the techniques I use to earn around 350 ECs everyday spending at most an hour. Try all the above ones to get more profits but remember
  • You cannot drop more than 300 cards on other blogs in one day.
  • Don't ever drop cards on pages with just Entrecard Widget and nothing else.
  • First read all the rules from Entrecard.
  • Increase your browsing speed. Read my article on Increasing Browsing Speed.

How I Increased My Browsing Speed

Labels:

The slowing down of browsing speed certainly is one of the most common problems we face one the net. But I don't think that's the only way things should go. So I searched the net and found out some ways on how to increase your browsing speed. However this doesn't increase the downloading speed but it does speed up your browsing, I bet. So read on[...]

The first thing you can do is to move to a faster browser such as Firefox(or may be Safari). These are much faster than Internet Explorer. I personally recommend Firefox to everyone. Its the most flexible, includes tabbed browsing and speed is way more than Internet Explorer.
After installing Firefox:
  • Open Firefox and in the address bar type about:config and hit enter.
  • In the screen that appears right click, then click new and then integer. Then in the box that appears copy nglayout.initialpaint.delay. When another box appears set the value to 0.
  • Next, In the screen you will see a Filter bar. There type in pipelining.
  • Double click on network.http.pipelining to set it true.
  • Double click network.http.pipelining.maxrequests In the box that appears type any number from 10 to 30. I have set it 30.
  • You can also install a very good add-on, Fasterfox, to Firefox that can increase the browsing speed exponentially.
Thats it, restart Firefox and enjoy.
If you still want Internet Explorer then do this:
  • Go to start then run and then type regedit.exe and O.K
  • Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Current Version. Then click on Internet Settings.
  • On the right side at the top you will see default. Double click it and type the value 10.
Press O.K and start Internet Explorer.
One more thing. Go to Start then Run and type in gpedit.msc.
In the window that opens under Computer Configuration expand Administrative Templates then Network and then click QoS Packet Scheduler.
Then on the right side double click Limit Reservable Bandwidth. Under setting select enabled and set it to 0. Then restart your computer.

Next time you start browsing internet you will see superfast speed .

The New Phase of Entrecard

Labels:

Here comes the announcement from Entrecard for what all of us were waiting. Now anyone can buy credits from his Entrecard dashboard. Now, it certainly will be easy for bloggers to advertise on big blogs since they don't need to first earn credits surfing the whole day long and getting nothing. For a matter of some dollars now everyone can buy 1000s of credits instead of waiting for long.

You can buy Entrecredits directly from Entrecard and the most important fact is that you don't have to worry about the quality of these credits as these will be sold by Entrecard itself and not bloggers.

One more announcement that Entrecard made today was that now every blogger can earn 25 EC every 3 days if he writes a post on his article every 3 days. That means whether you write 1 article or 2 or more you will get 25 ECs every 3 days. So basically Entrecard pays you for doing what you are already doing, so its great.

If a person writes for Entrecard he can now earn thousands of credits for every post he writes for Entrecard however there are some restrictions.
Not only this Entrecard is giving away 50 EC to everyone who subscribes to thir blog.
For more info go to Entrecard: The New Phase

7 Days to Better Looking Blog-Day 6

Labels: , ,

This is the day 6 Tutorial where I will show you how to add contact and about pages, some important widgets and finding great font styles and images for your blog. Previously I told you how to add post footer, bookmarking and subscription elements to your blog posts. So read on[...]

You can create a separate blog post and include information as "about me" page and title it as "About ME" and then provide the link of about me page on the top or elsewhere. If you don't want the page to appear before other blog posts(on your homepage) you can edit the date of the "About ME" post. Similarly you can add Contact page to your site. I use Kontactr for my contact application.

If you want to display a selected amount of text from the beginning of each post as a teaser so that each post can be expanded from the main page of your site just like I have then read How To Add The Blogger “Read More” Expandable Posts Link.

Da Font offers great font styles that you can use in blog designing just like I do. And if you want great images for site you can try Flickr, Photobucket, Dreamstime and Stock Exchange.

This is it for today. To read about adding post footer, bookmarking and subscription elements go to Day 5 Tutorial.
