1.) Unnaturalness
Generally, there’s no such word. But it should have. We can’t trust design decisions that come naturally. Yet ,It is unnatural to make an image too big, small, dark or light. The best way is to make sure the statement is understood and noticed.
2.) Grid/ Nature’s “ungrid’
There’s a statement that said there’s always chaos in an orderly manner and in opposite, there’s also order in chaos manner.
a) The grid is a system of equally spaced vertical and horizontal lines becomes a useful vehicle to relate typographic and other visual elements in layout. (used for variation in pages which related to each other at the same time)
b) Nature’s “ungrid”. For example- Have you seen autumn leaves fall and arrange themselves or a flock of pigeons stopping for a rest in a pavement square in boring composition - No one does.
This spatial relationships found in these random arrangements or almost any natural accidents are never mechanical, or unpredictable or uninteresting.
3) Redundancy/Complementary
Redundant- the type and image both either very large or very small- both compete with each other to gain attention. This is called redundant.
Complementary- type is large and images small or type is small and images is big. Reader has no problem identify which is the most important element here. This is called complementary.
Well, there’s a lot of articles on this topic. Are digital comics the future which going to replace the comic books in their printed form, and make them extinct?
In some way, digital comic do benefits the readers in saving the cost to read comic by small subscription fees. You should have observed that there’s a increase in price of the comic book compared to 5 years ago. 10 Years ago, I remember that i only paid $2.50 SGD for Manga- now it’s doubled the price $5.00 SGD. Some even more.
Also, Digital comics can use more interactive way in presenting with the current technology.
However despite the benefits of digital comics offer, printed comic books still had its attraction. Readers use their imagination to illustrate the gap from panel to panel. Also collecting them is a fun factor, looking up and down to find the missing back issue to complete the whole series.
Mobility of comic books is what digital comic cannot replace. You can take it anywhere whenever you go.
For myself, i believe that the market of digital comic will increase, as we had already heard seeing comic on the mobile phone.
Who knows, if ipod, Creative Zens or other MP4 player became a common accessory to the public, the market of Digital Comic will eventually opened up. However, printed comic will still stay because of its values.
Sent it to your friends, relatives , your loved ones and anyone that you care. Got 3 selection so choose one and share the festive joy with them. I hereby wish all of you a Happy Chinese New Year!!!
Note: May appear slow in preview but once u download it, it will appear normal.

We as a graphic designer is actually a solution provider. Therefore, design is the solution and it’s a way of organising something to accomplish its purposes.
For instances, a logo design for cleaning company is to portrays the company image.
Therefore a good design if it does what you want it to do. It’s bad if it doesn’t.
Some Design Vocabulary that graphic designer used:
1) Collage (an assembly of various flat visuals materials such as paper, cloth , etc to make a single composition)
2) Montage ( an assembly of the same visual materials)
3) Repetition ( When a similar images being multiplied a number of times, is often irresistible)
4) Parody ( A literary or artistic work that makes fun of another work)
5) Distortion (Twisted the norm to dramatize visual statement)
6) Continuity ( Like a series of promotional materials - Each piece stand on its own and at the same time consistent with the client’s corporate identity & branding etc)

Red Panther is an online comic supported by 2005 Synthesis, Media Development Authority Singapore (MDA) funding scheme. This is also my first attempt in writing a comic. Due to the lack of research and marketing of this online comic, the expected outcome of this online comic did not turn out quite well.
After gathering feedbacks, revamping of Red Panther website is essential in improving the current presentation of comic to cater wider audience and the website design will be partially flash to make it more SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
There is also the paid membership subscription which is not working efficiently. It will be replaced by free membership subscription and the revenue will be generated mainly from Advertisement Banner.
It’s always my childhood dreams to become a popular comic artist. I understand that there’s a lot of hard work and effort to be put in to achieve in that stage. However, during the production work in the project – I saw a growth in myself in terms of skills, conceptualization and characters etc.
I tell myself that no matter what’s the result of this project, it’s still worth doing all this.
The brand new ‘Red Panther’ will be out on 26 February. Do expect to see more refined action packed story and give me your support. Thanks!

So here’s come my first Tee Shirt design brand – Dong Feng Jie ( Eastern Wind Street)
They say that Tang Ren Jie belong to the olden days.
They say they found a place
Where the street had no limitation in expressing the oriental culture.
They called it - Dong Feng Jie
Rather than following western trends, Dong Feng Jie use the elements of the Chinese culture such as painting, calligraphy and symbol combining them with modern urban style in an innovative streetwear approach. So do check out my first series of Dong Feng Jie design – Chinese painting, now featuring in Niche, 34 Haji Lane in Singapore. I will be featuring the limited edition of this series with gold design on black tees probably in the early April.

Today, I would like to introduce one of the influential illustrators in the world, Robert Lindstorm,. He’s a Swedish illustrator who is the creator of the ‘Design Chapel’ website. Inside the website, it features stylish Nun in which he called them “ Forbidden Nuns.”
This website is an eye opening to me because I had yet came across anyone create such an impressive concept of his own portfolio website. You will notice that his ideas and concept had limitless boundary as he do what he likes and being what he likes to do.He’s not only a illustrator, he also play roles such as Art & Creative Director, Designer and Photographer. He’s a great guy to learn from. I simply amazed by what he does.
So currently, I am building my own portfolio in illustration and animation and working toward in accomplishing the stages that he is in now by having my own unique concept of portfolio website.

This is a space where I can live, write, hear, feel, breathe and create… There are no boundaries inside my space, which I can express freely what I want to write, draw and create. The importance of having this blog is to have fun and enjoy myself. I want to fully utilize to achieve what I hardly get from my daily work; in other words, it is became more personal and more me.
It’s not going to have “Wow” effect that I trying to create here to impress people but more on “Yeeehahaha” effect from myself or people who appreciate it. That’s a greater impact. I like that!!!
Similarly, this will also act as a life journal and imagined that in the future looking back on the old posts that I written about philosophy, concept, comic books or movie- It’s going to be very interesting and intriguing!!!
Last but not least, it act as an exhibition place to launch my experimental artwork. Cool!!! So do check out my latest posts weekly.
