Golden State Warriors’ forward Chris Taft underwent successful surgery yesterday, Tuesday, March 28, at St. Vincent Medical Center in Los Angeles. The surgery was performed by Dr. Robert Watkins, a back specialist, and addressed the chronic back pain that the rookie had been experiencing throughout the season.
Taft, 21, will begin rehabilitation in the near future and, based on the progress of the rehabilitation, will be in position to begin on-court activities at some point in the next several months.
Taft, whom the Warriors selected with the 42nd overall pick in this past June’s NBA Draft, has appeared in 17 games for Golden State this season, averaging 2.8 points and 2.1 rebounds in 8.5 minutes per contest. He has missed 47 games overall this season due to injury, including each of the last 33 contests. Taft last appeared in a game on January 11 versus Miami.
