1/12: Goal #2 Accomplished!

Comments

I’ve been up late working, but I got those extra six articles done today, making up for Wednesday and Thursday. So in all, I wrote a total of 9 articles today, and for this past workweek, reached my goal of 15 articles. I also got my first article to EzineArticles approved today, and I submitted another. I am going to try to do some more articles there, as they have a lot of search engine power, and have a better chance of getting picked up by an ezine or a large website.

I’m off to bed, its been a long day, but I’m real glad that I got everything done.

1/12: Goal Accomplished

I have been very busy and unable to write articles for the two previous days, but I got right to my computer as soon as I got home today, and got to writing. I’ve cranked out my three articles, so my goal for today has been accomplished.

Now, I want to go back and write six additional articles, to make up for the past 2 days, and keep up to pace with my plans. My thought is that after a few months of consistent, persistent effort, the rewards of bum marketing will begin to really come in. If I stick to my current goal of 3 articles a day for the 5 weekdays, and 10 for each weekend day, then that is 35 articles a week, or a little more than 420 articles after 3 months. I believe that, at that point, I will be seeing some consistent daily earnings. We shall see.

I have been asked several times to share which tools I use for keyword research, so I thought that I would do so. I don’t use anything that costs money.

Niche Bot Classic - I’m not entirely sure how accurate the search count numbers are, and you should note that they are per year, rather that per month. What I really like about this tool is that they show you the amount of optimized competition that you have for each keyword, and it generates 10 related searches for each query that you put in. I think its great for gauging how well keywords are relatively to each other, and then I personally research the keywords with some additional research before I begin writing the articles.

Nichetaxi.com - I don’t use this one very often, but I thought it was worth mentioning since it is a free tool, and can help you out. You type in a keyword (or phrase), it gives you some monthly search volume numbers, some related phrases, and a cabbie recommends whether or not the keyword is suitable for developing it as a niche.

Google Adwords Keyword Tool - Great tool from Google. You plug in a keyword, it spits out a ton of related search terms, and a bar indicates the search volume and advertiser competition. This tool is great for generating some keyword ideas, but then you must back it up with additional research, such as checking out the optimized competition, and its actual numerical search volume.

Pixelfast Overture Tool - It looks like Yahoo is trying to phase out the Overture keyword tool, because it is becoming unbearably slow, and often times does not work at all. This tool uses Overture’s search volume data, which it shows in one column, and it shows you the advertiser’s listing for that keyword in the other column.

My Clickbank earnings for this pay period stand just short of $30 (I don’t want to give the exact amount, and give up my product), from the sale that I made yesterday.

My First Sale!

Jan 11
Comments

I must admit, I was not able to write any articles yesterday. I had too much work-work to do, and I promised to not let my bum marketing interfere with my actual job. Hopefully I can crank out a few tonight, but things haven’t really settled down until now.

Now, some good news! I suddenly got an urge to check ClickBank to see if I had made any sales, and sure enough, I earned my first $28! I think this is the most expensive product that I’m promoting, and the largest commission, so that’s definitely good.

It feels real good to have sold just one, especially since it is my first affiliate sale ever, and hopefully one of many more to come!

Somebody asked me to share what I use for keyword research, and although I don’t really use anything special, I’ll put together a post later naming some of the tools that I use. None of them cost any money.

1/9: Goal Accomplished!

I just finished my third article for today, it was real hard to fight the urge to jump into my nice big bed and catch some Z’s!

I must say, I think I found a real potential gold mine today. Let’s just say the amount of times it is searched monthly is in the low six figures, with sub-1000 competition. On top of that, a ton of advertisers! And the people are actually searching for the name of the product that I am promoting, with just an extra phrase thrown in. I created a blog for this one, instead of submission in a directory, because I want to get some more traffic statistics on this one. I already had found a real nice other keyword for this product, so this may be a very profitable niche.

Still $0 in earnings so far, hopefully I can at least make 1 sale by the end of this pay period at Clickbank, which ends in one week.

My Attempt At Internet Marketing - 2007

Jan 09
1 Comment

I haven’t really gotten into internet marketing before. I’ve looked around in the world of IM before, but never really attempted anything seriously. I have a full-time job, so my income is definitely not dependent on what I have earned on the Internet (nothing!), but I would like to start earning a second income, and I do think that I could enjoy it.

In the end of 2006, I started looking into internet marketing again, and decided that I would really try to give it a shot in 2007. I mean devoting time to it everyday, learning, researching, and absorbing information, and then making a whole-hearted attempt at it. Just earlier with week, I discovered a terrific resource, that I know will help me with my new venture. Its a great forum, www.warriorforum.com, filled with an amazing amount of valuable information, and great, helpful members.

Through Warrior Forum, I discovered a method of internet marketing, called Bum Marketing. Information all about bum marketing is all part of a free report written by Travis Sago, and can be downloaded at www.bummarketingmethod.com. I devoured this report, and decided that this was how I wanted to start in internet marketing. It sounded very doable, and it doesn’t cost any money to start, which is something else that I was looking for. I do plan, however, to invest my earnings right back into my efforts, as I have read about some great tools, that do cost some money, but I’m trying to pull this off with no out-of-pocket expenses. The method basically consists of writing articles, linking to related affiliate products within these articles, and submitting them to article directories, where they should get picked up by search engines and rank well. The whole secret to this, though, is finding how to find which keywords that will allow you to rank well, and still bring you traffic. If you are interested in this, I would suggest picking up his free report and finding out more.

I already had a Clickbank account, but I also went out and registered a Commission Junction and PayDotCom affiliate account. I was able to crank out 12 articles over the weekend 6/7th and submit them to various article directories/Squidoo.

I decided that I need to set goals for myself, to keep myself motivated and to not get off track. This blog was one of my goals, as I can hold myself publicly accountable. I also made a goal to write at least 3 articles a day during the work week, and 10 articles a day on the weekend. I developed these goals yesterday, and stuck to my goal of 3 article yesterday, and I still have 3 to crank out today.

I will be keeping you up to date on my affiliate earnings, to see how I can go from a $0 investment to whatever I may earn. As of today, the 9th, my earnings are still at $0, but I will post when I do (hopefully!) make my first sale, and will report my affiliate earnings weekly.

To help keep myself accountable, I will try to make a post daily documenting whether I did meet my goal, and any possible earnings earned that day. I’m hoping that by forcing myself to post everyday, I will force myself to do everything that I intended, so that I won’t have to go out and say that I failed.

Stay posted, and maybe subscribe to my RSS feed, and follow along with me on my journey, as I document my successes and failures. If I discover anything neat or that really worked out for me, I will share it with you (except for my gem keywords, of course!).
