The Legendary Dynamic Duo – Batman 1960's

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:1966_Batman_titlecard.JPGBatman is a 1960s America television series, based on the DC comic book character Batman. It aired on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) for 2½ seasons from January 12, 1966 to March 14, 1968. Because the series had two weekly installments for most of its tenure, it contained the same number of episodes as a five year or even a five and a half year run by today's standards (shooting 22-24 episodes per season).

The typical story began with the villain committing a crime, such as robbing a bank. The followed by a scene inside Commissioner Gordon's office where he and Chief O'Hara would deduce exactly which villain they were dealing. Gordon would press a button, signaling a cut to Wayne Manor where Alfred, the butler, would answer the call. Alfred then would interrupt Master Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson – usually talking with Aunt Harriet, who didn't know their dual life. Upon hearing the enemy's scheme, Bruce would push a button concealed within a bust of Shakespeare that stood on his desk, opening a hidden door in a bookcase and revealing two poles. Wayne and Grayson would slide down the poles and flick a switch on their way down.

They would arrive in the Batcave in full costume and jump into the Batmobile start to Commissioner Gordon's office. the initial discussion of the crime usually led to the Dynamic Duo (Batman and Robin) conducting their investigation alone. In the investigation, a meeting with the villain would usually ensue with the heroes getting involved in a fight and the villain getting away, only to come back and fight again later in the show. Here, the villain would capture one or both of the heroes and place them in a deathtrap with a cliffhanger ending which was usually resolved in the first few minutes of the next episode.

The same pattern was repeated in the following episode until the villain was defeated

List of Characters on the Show:

  • Batman/Bruce Wayne (Adam West) – A caped crusader whose alter-ego's parents were killed as a child.

  • Robin/Dick Grayson (Burt Ward) – Batman's/Bruce Wayne's faithful partner and "boy wonder"

  • Alfred (Alan Napier) – Batman's loyal butler

  • Commissioner James Gordon (Neil Hamilton) – Batman's officer in need

  • Chief O'Hara (Stafford Repp) – Commissioner Gordon's Straightman and partner

  • Aunt Harriet Cooper (Madge Blake) – Dick Grayson's maternal aunt

  • Delbert Ridgley (Lee William Asher) – Mayor of Gotham City

At the end of the 3rd season, ABC planned cuts to the budget by eliminating Chief O'Hara and Robin, making Batgirl Batman's full time partner. Both Dozier and West opposed this idea, and ABC cancelled the show a short time later. Weeks later, NBC offered to pick the show up for a 4th season, if the set were still available for use. However NBC's offer came too late: Fox had already demolished the sets a week before. NBC didn't want to pay the $800,000 to rebuild, so the offer was withdrawn.

Batman 1960 is now release on DVD.

Universe's Most Unimportant Planet: 3rd Rock From The Sun

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3rd-rock-from-the-sun

The show was about a group of extraterrestrial scientists on an expedition of what they considered to be the least important planet, Earth, posing as a “family” of four to observe human beings, while pretending to be humans.

Each episodes revolve around the Solomons' difficulty integrating themselves into Earth's culture and understanding human customs – often their view of Earth realities is distorted by the fact that almost all of their experience of Earth comes through the media, especially television, rather that firsthand experience.

3rd Rock From the Sun, is an Emmy Award-winning American Sitcom that ran from 1996 until 2001 on NBC.

List of Characters on the show:

  • Dick Solomon (John Lithgow) – a high commander and head of the expedition to Earth but is often the most child-like member of the group.

  • Sally Solomon (Kristen Johnston) – a lieutenant and a security officer and second in command. She's been called as Dick's sister, but later introduced as Tommy's sister.

  • Tommy Solomon (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – a information officer and next in command. He play's the role of Dick's adolescent “son”, yet he is the oldest and smartest of all the aliens.

  • Harry Solomon (French Stewart) – Originally he was not part of the mission, but just happened to go for the ride because an extra seat was available. Later it became known that a chip was in his head and he became the "Communicator" or "Transmitter." He posed as Dick and Sally's "brother", and Tommy's "uncle."

  • Mary Albright (Jane Curtin) – Dick's colleague and on and off girlfriend. Mary felt Dick was an insensitive idiot, but she could not avoid the infatuation of his quirkiness or child like actions.

  • Nina Campbell (Simbi Khali) – Dick and Mary's administrative assistant. She considered Dick to be an idiot, a chauvinist, and a jerk.

  • Mrs. Mamie Dubcek (Elmarie Wendel) – Solomons' loose, clueless, and carefree landlady.

  • Officer Don Leslie Orville (Wayne Knight) – Sally's, boyfriend. Don is a coward and only joined to the force to be around all the police where nothing would happen.

In the series finale, Dick reveals his true identity to Mary. After the initial shock, Mary considers the past five years of their relationship, realizes how much sense it makes, and shortly thereafter comes to fully accept Dick and the family. Unfortunately, Liam complains about Dick's transgression to the Big Giant Head, who orders Dick and the family back to their home planet for taking unauthorized hostile action against a fellow alien. When Mary finds out, she agrees to accompany them back to their home world, and so the five set about planning a going-away party
